Graham Platner Withdraws From Senate Race Amid Allegations

Senator John Fetterman, D-Pa., made pointed comments about Graham Platner following his withdrawal from the Maine U.S. Senate race due to serious allegations. Fetterman stated that Platner was always a ‘dead man walking’ after the scandal-ridden Democrat left the race subsequent to a rape accusation. Fetterman’s remarks were aired during an appearance on ‘Jesse Watters Primetime.’

‘The trash took itself out tonight. And now, finally, people in Maine have a chance to really vote on someone that’s not a total piece of trash,’ Fetterman expressed. He continued, ‘[Platner] will only be remembered as the accused rapist that got pushed out of your election. That’s your legacy, bro. And you are a guy that cheats on your wife. You’re the guy that roughs up your ex-girlfriend.’

Platner announced his decision to leave the race via a video on X, asserting that the rape allegation made by a former partner was unfounded. Although Platner has faced numerous accusations, including sexual misconduct and domestic abuse, he has not faced criminal charges related to the rape allegation.

Fetterman was vocal about Platner’s departure, paraphrasing the Democratic candidate’s speech, saying, ‘To give that weird long speech and pretend like people will miss you? No one’s going to forget you other than [as] the guy that was pushed out of the election because a woman credibly accused you of raping her. So that’s his legacy.’

The allegations against Platner also included accusations of domestic abuse from former partners and a controversial chest tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol.

The latest accusation came from Maine resident Jenny Racicot, who detailed to CNN’s Jake Tapper that Platner entered her home without consent and forced her into unprotected sex despite her persistent instructions for him to cease.

‘He’s always been a dead man walking,’ Fetterman reiterated.

Fetterman criticized others in his party, including Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and remarked that Sanders owes an apology for endorsing Platner. He questioned, ‘What did [Democrats] see in this guy? Was it the Nazi tattoo, was it the gross messages online, the way he roughs up women?’ Fetterman called on Sanders to apologize to the voters in Maine and those who supported the troubled campaign.

The Republican party currently holds a majority in the Senate with a 53-47 advantage. Platner’s exit complicates efforts for Democrats seeking to capture this crucial seat in a state that typically leans left.

Platner, a military veteran and oyster farmer, faced considerable scrutiny throughout his campaign due to various scandals that overshadowed his candidacy. As Fetterman concluded, ‘Go back under that rock that you came from.’
