Hollywood Directors Reach Tentative Agreement with Studios

2 weeks ago 0

The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has reached a tentative four-year contract agreement with Hollywood studios and streaming services. This deal was made with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers four weeks after negotiations began. These talks marked the first under the leadership of the new DGA President, Christopher Nolan, who assumed the position in September.

The agreement follows other similar four-year deals recently ratified by unions representing writers and actors. These agreements suggest a trend toward long-term labor stability, even amidst various changes in the industry.

This collective bargaining agreement will proceed to the guild’s national board for approval. The DGA has stated that specific terms will remain undisclosed until the board’s endorsement. Subsequently, the deal must be ratified by the guild membership. Typically, tentative agreements secure approval at both these stages. The previous contract for directors was due to expire on June 30.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers expressed satisfaction with reaching a “fair deal that helps advance a stable and successful entertainment industry.”
