In what could be Ian Happ’s last regular-season home game at Wrigley Field, the long-time Cubs outfielder surprised a fan by tossing a money-wrapped, personalized baseball into the bleachers. Video footage from the game against the Miami Marlins shows Happ, who has played for the Cubs for ten years, throwing the ball into Wrigley’s famous bleacher seats, located above the ivy-covered walls.

Jeff Gorski, known as “Bleacher Jeff,” caught the baseball, which was wrapped tightly with rubber bands holding three hundred-dollar bills. Happ signed the ball and included a message in blue marker: “Thank you for 10 incredible years, for the positivity and unwavering support. Y’all are the best fans in sports! BEERS ON ME!” Gorski, wearing Happ’s jersey, has attended every Cubs home game this season.

Gorski explained that this gesture was part of an ongoing tradition. Happ has been throwing balls and cash to bleacher fans for the past five years, always including a thank-you note. The recent $300 ball had the highest amount of money attached so far. “He knows I’m there all the time and recognizes who should be getting beers, who the regulars are,” Gorski stated.
