Kumba Coaster Prepares for Final Ride

One of Florida’s most famous roller coasters is concluding its journey after more than three decades. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay announced that Kumba will close permanently on August 2. The closure marks the end of an iconic attraction that has captivated theme-park enthusiasts for 33 years.

Introduced in 1993, Kumba was once Florida’s tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster. It featured the world’s tallest vertical loop at the time, quickly becoming a favorite among thrill seekers.

A Beloved Attraction

The ride offers a nearly three-minute thrill, including a 135-foot drop and speeds reaching 60 mph, along with seven inversions. As Kumba retires, Busch Gardens plans to introduce Kumba’s Revenge, part of a $100 million investment to expand the park’s thrill ride offerings.
