Olivia Miles Shines in Her Rookie Season with Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx have a reputation for selecting talent wisely during the WNBA Draft. This year, Olivia Miles was their top choice, and she has quickly proven her worth on the team.

Drafted second overall in the spring, the New Jersey native has become a standout player. In a recent game, the Lynx defeated the Connecticut Sun 101-89, with Miles setting a new rookie scoring record that previously belonged to Caitlin Clark.

Miles scored 21 points in the victory, surpassing the mark set by Clark in 2024. After the game, Miles shared her appreciation for her teammates and coach. “It’s special, but it means we’re more so working well as a team,” she stated. “I have great teammates around me, and great vets who allow me to be myself out there.” Miles emphasized the importance of having supportive teammates and a coach who believes in her.

This season, Miles has scored 790 points in 40 games. Despite the expanded schedule, both she and Clark achieved their records within 40 games. Clark, who plays for the Indiana Fever, scored 769 points in her debut season.

Miles has surpassed other records set by Clark, including a game in June where she hit eight 3-pointers, setting a rookie record for most 3-pointers in a match.

Additionally, Miles is the quickest rookie to reach milestones of 350 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists in her career, achieving this in 21 games, faster than both Clark and Andrea Stinson of the former Chicago Sting.

The Minnesota Lynx currently hold a 32-10 record, leading the league by one game over the Golden State Valkyries.
