In Philadelphia, J.J. McCarthy suffered a hip injury during a game between the Giants and the Eagles. The incident occurred after McCarthy was tackled by Zack Baun following a 3-yard run early in the third quarter.
McCarthy’s attempt to continue playing was short-lived, as he showed visible signs of pain while trying to throw a warmup pass. He grabbed his right side and expressed discomfort, which prompted a trip to the blue medical tent on the sideline for further assessment. Soon after, McCarthy was escorted to the locker room with the team’s trainers, presumably for more thorough testing.
This marks the second time this season that the Giants have lost their starting quarterback. Earlier, Jaxson Dart experienced a season-ending torn ACL in Week 2. With McCarthy’s status questionable, Jameis Winston stepped in as his replacement. Winston had started four games earlier in the season before McCarthy took over the position.
If McCarthy’s absence extends, it could affect the Giants’ chances in the NFC East division. Additionally, this may influence their strategy approaching the trade deadline scheduled for Tuesday.
