A Vermont jury found Jason Eaton guilty of attempted murder on Monday for his role in the 2023 shooting of three Palestinian college students. The incident, which caused significant concern among Arab and Muslim communities across the United States, left one of the students paralyzed.
During the trial held in Burlington, Vermont, Eaton, 51, was present in the courtroom. Although he admitted to shooting the students, he entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Despite this defense, the jury reached a conviction.
Eaton now faces the possibility of a life sentence. Among the victims, two hold U.S. citizenship, further highlighting the impact and reach of this case.
