Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple have announced their separation two years after getting engaged on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette. Both shared the news through identical statements on Instagram on Friday, November 6, expressing their mutual desire for each other’s happiness.
In Vassos’s Instagram Stories, she shared, “Two years ago, Chock and I took a leap of faith and got engaged during our season of The Golden Bachelorette, hoping we had found our forever. We spent the last two years living what we hoped would be the beginning of our love story, sharing our families, amazing adventures, laughter, and supporting each other through challenging times.”
“Sadly, our journey hasn’t turned out the way we had hoped and we have decided to end our engagement,” Vassos continued. “We truly want each other to be happy, and I’m grateful for the chapter we shared.”
Chapple echoed these sentiments by sharing the same statement on his Instagram Stories. The couple first became engaged during the season finale aired in November 2024 when Chapple proposed to Vassos. At the time, Vassos shared that Chapple was the first person she “pictured a future with in a really long time.”
After the finale, the couple told PEOPLE they hadn’t focused much on wedding planning. They expressed excitement about simply being a couple and enjoying their lives together. By March 2025, they still hadn’t begun planning the wedding. “There’s no rush,” Vassos stated, emphasizing their enjoyment of the present. She remarked that without the pressures of a biological clock or child-rearing, they could take their time to decide the right moment for a wedding.
