Louisiana’s 2030 Education Goal Amid Financial Aid Cuts

2 weeks ago 0

Louisiana aims for 60% of working-age adults to obtain a degree or valuable credential by 2030. This initiative is crucial given current challenges in higher education.

Across Louisiana and the United States, the affordability of higher education remains a pressing issue. Federal financial aid is diminishing. Recent decisions have eliminated Grad PLUS loans. Additionally, borrowing limits for graduates are tighter. This reduction affects funding for critical professions, such as nursing and social work.

The situation worsens with proposals to cut subsidized federal student loans. These loans save students a significant amount in interest charges over time. The House’s proposed funding bill for the coming fiscal year threatens to remove this option.
