On Monday, Iran confirmed that no direct negotiations with the United States are currently occurring. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized Iran’s focus solely on talks with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

“Our negotiations are with Oman and are focused on reaching an understanding on a route that will ensure safe passage of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz,” he stated.

Constructive discussions between Iran and Oman have centered on establishing a new, temporary route through the strategic waterway. Tehran has demanded that ships follow routes designated by Iran after paying fees. Rising energy prices due to Iran’s control continue to impact Americans at fuel stations, complicating President Trump’s stance.
