In Fort Lauderdale, a man drowned early on Sunday morning, June 7, 2026. Authorities received a call soon after 5 a.m. concerning a potential drowning near the 200 block of Southwest Second Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the man enter the water.
Fort Lauderdale police, in collaboration with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, conducted a search of the area. The man was located, and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported him to Broward Health Medical Center. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead there.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating this incident.
