A significant disturbance occurred at the 601 Sand Bar on the Congaree River in Calhoun County, South Carolina, leading to chaos and several arrests. Video footage from June 6 captures the disorder, displaying multiple simultaneous fights with a crowd observing the violence.
The footage shows various confrontations, with individuals exchanging punches in both the water and on land. Bystanders recorded the scenes, which led to six arrests and an ongoing investigation by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
“The injuries were severe,” noted Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers, referencing injuries such as swollen eyes and head trauma. Alcohol and underage drinking were involved, according to authorities.
Sheriff Summers highlighted the dangers, cautioning against mixing drinking and water activities. “Such environments are not suitable for family outings,” he said.
The incident took place during the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run, a popular event for boaters. Arrests include Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell, and Taylor Knudson, facing various charges related to assault and public disturbance.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate, expecting further arrests as more evidence emerges. They encourage the public to share information that could aid in resolving the case.
