The AFC boasts five teams with five wins, making it challenging to predict which team will end the season as the top seed. Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons has expressed a surprising belief on this issue. According to Parsons, the top contender is not currently leading its division.
In Week 7, the Cincinnati Bengals delivered a stellar performance with a 35-13 win against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite having a 4-2 record after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars in Weeks 3 and 4, Parsons is confident in their potential for a strong finish.
During his podcast with Bleacher Report, ‘The Edge with Micah Parsons,’ the All-Pro defensive end shared his perspective on why the Bengals could secure a first-round bye in the postseason. He praised the consistency of the Bengals and highlighted players like Tee Higgins, who is having a standout season.
I’m gonna say Bengals. They have pretty much been the most consistent. They have so many answers. Tee is playing crazy this year. If he stays healthy and he is playing like that with Ja’Marr. Tee Higgins has been low-key going over 100 yards a couple games. You are going to have to start respecting that. Yeah, Ja’Marr’s numbers may not be as high because Tee has been snapping. They have been shifting to Ja’Marr and allowing Tee to go off. That’s great for the Bengals. What people are not talking about is this Bengals defense is playing great. It’s not the same Bengals.
The statistics support Parsons’ claim, with the Bengals among only three teams, alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers, ranking in the top ten for both offensive points scored and defensive points allowed. This balance is key to their strength.
Whether Parsons’ prediction will come true depends on the remainder of the season. Joe Burrow, the Bengals’ quarterback, plays a crucial role in this equation. He boasts a league-high 71.7% completion rate and ranks second in passing touchdowns with 15. The Bengals, riding a two-game winning streak, aim to maintain momentum as they prepare to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
