Miles Sanders Faces DUI Charges in Pennsylvania

Miles Sanders, former Pro Bowl running back, was detained on DUI charges in June while driving through Churchill Borough, Pennsylvania. According to court records, Sanders last played professionally for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. He admitted guilt to charges involving driving an unregistered vehicle and illegal parking where signs prohibit this behavior, as per records reviewed by OutKick.

His preliminary hearing on charges of careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances is set for September 23. The criminal complaint, sourced by CBS News, noted Sanders was discovered slumped in his Lexus’s driver seat on William Penn Highway. Officers attempted to wake him, but he struggled to respond to inquiries.

During the incident, Dallas running back Sanders was described by officers as “in and out of consciousness” and “extremely lethargic,” as reported by CBS News. Sanders admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that day, and officers noted his breath was alcohol-scented and his eyes appeared glossy.

The presence of marijuana in his vehicle was confirmed by CBS News, and Sanders tested positive for alcohol during a portable breath test conducted by police. Originating from Pittsburgh, Sanders attended college at Penn State and was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sanders spent his initial four professional years with the Eagles before agreeing on a four-year, $25 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. However, he was released two seasons into the contract due to injury struggles and underperformance.

Signing subsequently with the Cowboys on a one-year agreement, Sanders played merely four games due to a knee and ankle injury ending his season prematurely. Currently a free agent, he has remained inactive since his last match.

Throughout 88 career games, Sanders accrued 4,462 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, supplemented by 183 reception catches for 1,274 yards and four touchdowns. His standout season occurred in 2022, marking his sole Pro Bowl appearance, with 1,269 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
