The Trump Phone has finally arrived after numerous delays, leaving many customers dissatisfied over concerns about its manufacturing location, design, and features.
Putting America First
Launched by Trump Mobile, a wireless carrier started by President Donald Trump’s sons Don Jr. and Eric, the T1 Phone was announced in June 2025. Promoted as aligning with ‘America First’ ideals, it promised a gold-colored design with the American flag, priced at $499. This made it more affordable than Apple’s iPhone models, priced between $800 and $1,200. Unlike Apple and Samsung, which manufacture phones outside the U.S., T1 Phone’s early messaging suggested it would be ‘proudly designed and built in the United States.’
Hundreds of thousands paid a $100 deposit to pre-order, expecting an August/September 2025 release. Issues soon emerged.
Shaped By American Innovation
The launch faced repeated delays, with the Trump administration citing a 43-day government shutdown as a cause. The website later described the phone as ‘shaped by American innovation,’ marking a shift from the ‘Made in America’ promise.
Eric Trump indicated a plan for future U.S. manufacturing but did not fulfill the original promise. Changes to the preorder terms included a section titled ‘No Guarantee of Release, Delivery or Timing,’ stating that dates and production schedules were non-binding.
Trump Mobile did not guarantee the phone’s commercial release, regulatory approvals, carrier certification, production, or timely delivery.
The T1 Phone Has Arrived
In early 2026, Trump Mobile began shipping the T1 phones. Social media channels announced, ‘The T1 Phone has arrived!!’ Pre-order customers received updates, and shipping commenced.
However, a minor issue arose when a video on X was flagged for AI use, identifying an inconsistency with the U.S. flag. Despite this, anticipation remained high among pre-order customers, though initial feedback was negative.
The American Flag
One major concern was the 11 stripes on the phone’s American flag, though the flag should have 13 stripes. This undermines the phone’s patriotic branding.
Hardware Concerns
Reports suggest the Trump Phone is likely a rebranded Android device, seemingly just a phone with a new gold casing and Trump flag.
Android Authority noted its resemblance to the HTC U24 Pro, while Times Now compared it to the Wingtech/REVVL 7 Pro 5G. The T1 phone may be an off-the-shelf phone with new branding. The phone uses a Snapdragon 7 chip and standard cameras, mid-range features not matching the $499 price tag. This indicates manufacturing possibly in China or Taiwan, contradicting the U.S. manufacturing claim.
Software Concerns
The T1 phone includes Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform, preinstalled. While phones commonly come with apps, this political branding raises privacy and data concerns, indicating the phone’s focus on identity rather than technology.
These issues have generated online criticism of the T1 Phone. Sheel Mohnot, co-founder of Better Tomorrow Ventures, humorously noted the flag error, questioning its ‘Made in the USA’ origin. Edward Krassenstein labeled the phone as a Chinese product, calling it an outdated T-Mobile model with new branding. Molly Ploofkins, a user with a large following, highlighted the flag error, questioning the representation of the original colonies.
