Mitchell Robinson’s Injury Concerns New York Knicks Fans Ahead of NBA Finals

4 weeks ago 0

The New York Knicks are preparing for their upcoming NBA Finals series against a strong Western Conference opponent. An injury concern arises regarding Mitchell Robinson, their backup big man. Reports from ESPN indicate Robinson underwent surgery for a broken right pinkie finger. Fans worry this injury could impact his participation in the series, posing a challenge to the Knicks’ lineup against a formidable rival.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, an avid Knicks supporter, learned of Robinson’s injury through DJ Clue, a hip-hop artist. Smith stressed the importance of Robinson playing in the Finals during a discussion with his colleagues, Jay Williams and Brian Windhorst, on “First Take.” Smith emphasized the need for Robinson to rest and recover, using cold plunges, hyperbaric chambers, and saunas to prepare for the Finals. Despite this, Smith expressed frustration over Robinson’s pinkie injury.

“Mitchell Robinson, you better play in this series. This is the Finals. A pinkie should not hold you back,” Smith urged, pointing directly at the camera.

Smith referenced NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, known for toughing out injuries. Admittedly, Robinson’s shooting isn’t stellar, hitting only 50% of free throws. Yet, his rebounding and defensive skills are vital.

Smith voiced his concerns, “If Robinson misses games because of a pinkie, I’ll lose it. Wrap it up. Do whatever it takes. It’s the Finals!”

The Knicks will need all their players against either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs. Both teams have formidable big men, like Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama. Robinson’s presence adds depth, reducing pressure on starters like Karl-Anthony Towns.

Sports journalist Shams Charania reported that Robinson fully intends to play in Game 1. Despite his free-throw struggles, Robinson’s recovery period has offered time to heal following the Knicks’ successful streak, including their sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With Game 1 happening on Wednesday, June 3, Robinson still has time to prepare. The Knicks aim to have a complete lineup ready for the Finals challenge.
