Montana Senate Race Gripped by Political Division

The race for a Senate seat in Montana is unfolding with unexpected twists, impacting prospects for Democrats and Republicans alike. The contest involves Alani Bankhead for the Democrats, Seth Bodnar running as an independent, and Kurt Alme representing the Republicans.

The Democratic Party’s concern centers on the potential split of votes between Ms. Bankhead and Mr. Bodnar, which could favor Mr. Alme’s campaign. This concern was heightened during a news conference where some Democrats anticipated Ms. Bankhead might announce her withdrawal from the race.
