During a recent EVA Air flight from Taiwan, a business-class passenger used a drinking glass to scratch his scalp, astonishing fellow travelers. The incident, captured on video on September 24, showed the passenger vigorously massaging his head with the rim of the glass.
A fellow traveler seated behind him witnessed the unusual grooming activity on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This unexpected turn of events left the witness feeling as though the premium experience they expected had taken a severe downturn. “This is disgusting. It’s a cup, not a massage comb,” expressed the disconcerted observer.
The sight left the witness losing appetite for the meal service. “No one wants to eat your dandruff. I’m really going to vomit,” shared the passenger who recorded the incident, as reported by Viral Press.
The flight landed without any issues, according to NewsFlare. EVA Air, established in 1989 and headquartered in Taiwan, managed the situation with minimal disturbance.
Texas-based etiquette expert, Diane Gottsman, spoke to Fox News Digital about the incident. She emphasized that using a glass for such purposes is inappropriate, especially in public. “Any time you see someone scratching themselves with an object, or even their fingers, in public — it’s unappealing and somewhat alarming,” she noted.
This event highlights growing complaints about public behavior on flights. In March 2026, another passenger faced criticism for placing feet on a window. “First time experiencing the feet in my face in five years. Travel monthly. In first class, and this lady put her feet on my arm rest. I shoved them off,” shared a Reddit user.
Gottsman reminded, “When you’re in your home, you are in a private space. When you are out in public, there are different standards because you are around other people and must be aware of your surroundings and the comfort level of others.”
