Junior running back Jonsean Young’s return to the field has been a significant boost for Morgan Park. During summer training, a knee injury forced Young to take a break. This pause was surprisingly beneficial for his performance on the field.

Young expressed his eagerness to return, stating, I realized how much I missed everything and wanted to be back. I never fold under pressure. His love for the game was evident as he took part in Morgan Park’s 20-6 victory over Simeon at Chicago’s Rockne Stadium.

On that Saturday afternoon, Young made a crucial 32-yard run, leading to his own go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Ronald Smith Jr. contributed significantly with a 54-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Travezz Jones, helping the Mustangs secure their fifth consecutive win, bringing their record to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Smith noted Young’s renewed determination after returning from his injury, As soon as he came back, he had a hungry mentality. Off the field, Young is known as a quiet, studious, and friendly individual.

Despite this being only Young’s third game back, his efficiency has been remarkable, scoring four touchdowns in limited appearances. In the second half against Simeon, he managed to gain 61 yards on seven carries. The coaches have been careful about my playing time and working me back, but I was fresh when I got in there, Young explained, adding that the team needed a first down, which he saw as an opportunity to deliver.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound running back claims he is at 95% health. He demonstrated speed, agility, and the willingness to endure aggressive play between the tackles.

Young’s coaches have unwavering faith in his abilities, and his drive to succeed remains strong. Since his freshman season, he has earned a reputation as a resilient player. His cousin, Bucky Irving, who plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is also part of Young’s football legacy.

Football just goes back generations in my family, with my dad, my uncles, and now Bucky, Young shared. With aspirations for a professional football career, he has watched Bucky’s development and success closely.

Young showcased his passion for football from a young age, indicating his fondness for the sport with any football he found around the house.

He possesses entrepreneurial interests as well, with a penchant for designing clothing, a skill he has cultivated over approximately three years inspired by his brothers.

Young’s ambitions include playing in college and establishing a successful career in football, reaffirming this commitment upon his return. It feels great to be back. There’s so much satisfaction running the ball and playing the game. You take your anger out, Young said.
