New York Giants Adjust Quarterback Strategy After Jaxson Dart’s Injury

The New York Giants are set to alter their quarterback lineup following Jaxson Dart’s knee surgery, which has ruled him out for the regular season. The team might add one or more quarterbacks to their roster.

Veteran quarterback Jameis Winston started for the Giants on Sunday, leading them to a 12-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The game, played in wet conditions at MetLife Stadium, saw Winston complete 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards. He also made a modest contribution on the ground with 14 rushing yards.

Although Winston’s performance wasn’t remarkable, it was sufficient to secure a win against a Titans team struggling under head coach Robert Saleh, who is in his first season. The Titans now hold a 0-3 record.

Giants head coach John Harbaugh confirmed during a postgame press conference that Winston will remain the starter for now. Even if new quarterbacks are brought in, Harbaugh emphasized the team’s commitment to maximizing their current opportunities.

“Not at all,” Harbaugh said, referring to any change in plans. “The opportunities that you have are the opportunities you have. No matter what, we’re going to do everything we can to make our team as strong as we can based on what options we have.”

The Giants hope Dart might return by January, contingent on a potential playoff run. Until then, securing victories remains crucial for postseason aspirations. Currently standing at 2-1, the Giants will face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4.

Recent performances by Winston raise concerns for the Giants. In Week 2’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Winston’s stats included 11 completions out of 27 attempts, resulting in 111 yards and an interception. A tailored play strategy for him against the Titans did not yield the expected improvement.
