The NFL’s “RedZone” broadcast is back for its 18th season, bringing some changes to what was once a commercial-free experience. With new plans this year, host Scott Hanson shares details on the anticipated advertisements during the program.
Introduction of Commercials
While “RedZone” has been known for its uninterrupted coverage, Hanson confirms a shift in the approach to airing commercials. “There will be what people define as commercials,” Hanson stated in a recent interview with OutKick. The plan involves a limited number of 15-second ads inserted between plays. This approach tries to balance viewer experience with business needs, at moments such as walking back to the huddle, for example.
Past Practices and Fan Reactions
Last season, “RedZone” aired 16 advertisements, a notable increase from the past. However, Hanson assures fans that the start of the 2026 season will see fewer ads. He emphasized that business decisions regarding advertising are beyond his control, leaving some uncertainty about future changes.
The NFL Network’s Scott Hanson said, “Uncle Scott doesn’t make the decisions when it comes to the business folks.”
Fans have expressed their opinions about the program, which has even been a favorite in unexpected places. Hanson mentions that “RedZone” has been watched in the White House and enjoyed by notable football players like Tom Brady and Josh Allen.
Hanson’s Other Ventures
Scott Hanson is not just known for his role on “RedZone.” He’s involved with Lowe’s in the “Earn Your Sunday” campaign, working with NFL stars Dak Prescott, Christian McCaffrey, and Justin Jefferson. Additionally, Hanson is an experienced traveler, with adventures across six continents.
His travel experiences include cage diving with great white sharks, exploring the Serengeti among lions, and visiting the Great Wall of China. Hanson has also taken part in diverse adventures such as running with bulls in Pamplona and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Personal Preferences and Lifestyle
When asked about his adventure vacation preference, Hanson found Kilimanjaro more beautiful, but running with the bulls required more courage. As for food, he leans towards Mexican cuisine, contrasting it with the unexpected flavors of authentic Chinese meals he tried.
“Seven hours of RedZone” continues to captivate fans, offering an engaging sports viewing experience. Whether with changes or special guests, the show remains pivotal in NFL coverage.
