Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd Dispel Relationship Rumors

Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, both prominent figures in women’s basketball, have officially addressed the speculation about their past relationship. Despite earlier rumors, the pair clarified that their romantic relationship ended well before Fudd’s selection as the first overall pick by the Dallas Wings.

Fudd’s drafting raised questions about her relationship with Bueckers, a fellow player on the Dallas Wings. Both players, previously teammates at the University of Connecticut, have been the subject of much curiosity. They addressed these queries on the show “Fudd Around and Find Out,” confirming the breakup.

We’re not together anymore. It’s been, for everybody wondering — even though we don’t have to share — it’s been a while. Like, over a year. And [we wanted] to share that, because everybody seemed to be like, ‘Oh my god, they’re teammates, how is this going to work?’ We were not together before she got drafted, so all of those narratives can go to bed, said Bueckers.

Bueckers emphasized that Fudd joined the Wings due to her talent and achievements, not because of any personal connections. She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend, she was drafted because she deserved it. She’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player. And we’re still friends, still cool. We broke up over a year ago, so we played an entire season together. We’re the utmost professional, we care about basketball, and we’re still friends, we’re still cool.

Fudd reinforced their shared commitment to professionalism. We know you guys are curious and probably have a ton of questions, but we’ve addressed everything that we need to, and the rest will stay with us, she stated.

The two basketball stars first played together at UConn from 2021 until April of the previous year, when Bueckers was drafted as the top pick. Their college career included playing in two national championship games, securing a title in their last outing together. Despite personal changes, their professional relationship remains strong as they continue to be key players for the Wings.

The Dallas Wings finished the 2026 season with a record of 27-17, although they exited in the first round to the eventual champion Golden State Valkyries.
