Police Shoot Armed Woman in Times Square

On Monday afternoon, a woman was shot by New York City police in Times Square. The incident occurred after she allegedly attacked several people while carrying knives. Law enforcement officials provided these details to local media.

Authorities reported that the event took place near West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue. Officers had responded to reports of a knife-wielding individual. The woman reportedly slashed at least two people before police discharged their firearms.

According to witnesses, the suspect held two knives and disregarded commands to drop the weapons. New York City councilman Carl Wilson wrote on X, informing the public about the situation and the ongoing investigation. He noted that 42nd to 43rd on 7th Ave remained closed to foot traffic, with no other suspects involved.

Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal echoed these sentiments in his statement on X. The conditions of the suspect and victims have not been disclosed. Officials confirmed the incident is not linked to terrorism.

The event has led New York City Emergency Management to warn locals about delays. The section of 7th Avenue affected is now closed, disrupting the heart of Times Square.
