Pritzker Criticizes Republicans at Dallas Event

2 hours ago 0

In Dallas, Democratic Governor JB Pritzker of Illinois urged voters to dismiss the Republicans’ inaugural midterm convention. At a Democratic National Committee press conference across from the American Airlines Center, Pritzker stated, “Voters can see through the BS that Republicans are spewing.” The GOP convention, which began with President Donald Trump and aims to motivate the party’s base, seeks to maintain control of Congress.

The Republicans’ effort comes amid challenges from energized Democrats. The convention’s goal is to boost turnout in key races, affecting control of both the House and Senate.

As the convention began, Republican National Committee Chair Joe Gruters remarked, “We are putting the president on the ballot.” This comment highlights the party’s strategy for the midterm elections.

Pritzker criticized the Republican event, arguing, “This bizarre Republican midterm convention here can’t paper over the fact that Republicans have done nothing to earn your vote.” He cited concerns about Trump’s trade policies and their impact on families and workers.

Additionally, Pritzker accused Republicans of attempting to “rig” the midterm elections, stating that Trump aims to limit mail-in voting via the U.S. Postal Service.

He warned that failing to win in the 2026 election could jeopardize the integrity of future elections, implying potential manipulation.

Despite defending Trump’s executive order on mail-in voting as a security measure, the White House faces criticism from Democrats.

Pritzker, campaigning for re-election in Illinois, is viewed as a potential 2028 presidential candidate. In Dallas, he emphasized the importance of political outcomes in Texas, expressing his commitment to supporting Democratic causes nationwide.
