Rand Paul Accuses Fauci of COVID ‘Conspiracy’ Cover-Up

Senator Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, has accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of funding gain-of-function research that contributed to the global pandemic. Paul alleges Fauci pressured intelligence analysts, including the CIA, to change their initial reports about the COVID-19 lab leak origin. He condemns the supposed misdirection and deception, asserting that the public was misled about the virus.

The situation intensified with files released by Senator Rand Paul, revealing preparations by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to question a British zoologist and disease ecology expert upon his return from investigating the origins of COVID-19 with the World Health Organization. However, the FBI intervened to stop this questioning, as showcased by the documents.

Rand Paul expressed his concerns about the public narrative, writing on social media platform X, “They told the public a COVID lab leak ‘wasn’t plausible.’ Their own private messages say otherwise.” He launched The Reading Room for the public to access records related to his ongoing investigation, aiming to provide documents, not just conclusions.

The documents designated Peter Daszak, the former president of EcoHealth Alliance, as a “high person of interest” ahead of his arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport on February 5, 2021. Daszak was notable for his over 15 years of collaboration with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), his association with lead researcher Zhengli Shi, and his role in NIH grants for bat coronavirus research in China.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials intended to interrogate Daszak about his activities in China, his contacts at WIV, and his compliance with legal regulations concerning biological samples. The documents indicate much of Daszak’s funding supported gain-of-function research.

Three days before Daszak’s scheduled arrival in New York, the FBI’s New York Field Office requested CBP to halt the planned inspection, which did not occur. The documents contain detailed itineraries, suggested interrogation questions, and emails showing interagency disagreements regarding the search.

Paul stresses, “This isn’t the whole story. It’s the start of one,” in his detailed thread on X. The Reading Room will be updated continuously as the investigation proceeds.

At the time of the intended interception, Daszak led the defunct EcoHealth Alliance, an American nonprofit dedicated to researching emerging pandemic diseases. He was also part of the 10-member WHO team that went to China to investigate the origins of SARS-CoV-2.

Peter Daszak faced public scrutiny for potential conflicts of interest due to his financial and professional connections to WIV, despite being part of the WHO investigative team. He now leads Nature Health Global, concentrating on ecological research, public health, and pandemic prevention.
