As of September 18, 2026, federal safety regulators have issued a recall affecting around 195,000 heated blankets and pads sold on Amazon.com. This action follows numerous reports of burn injuries attributed to these products.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) noted in the recall notice that the internal heating components of these blankets and pads can excessively heat, posing risks of fire and burns to consumers.
JKMax, the manufacturer of these products, acknowledged 577 incidents where blankets emitted smoke, melted, or burned because of overheating. Among these cases, 53 resulted in burn injuries as per the CPSC filing.
“The recalled items were available for purchase online between September 2022 and July 2026,” states the CPSC notice. They were sold both in single packs and dual packs, available in colors such as blue, gray, brown, and red, made from polyester fabric.
Concerned consumers should look for specific model numbers to determine if their product is affected. The affected models are JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B, and JKMAX-8490B. These numbers can be found on the remote control and the white label attached to the product packaging.
Regulators urge customers who bought these blankets and pads to halt their usage promptly. They are advised to contact JKMax for a full refund. The recall identification is number 26-778.
