Progressive Democrats closely aligned with Representative Ro Khanna of California are forming a committee to encourage him to run for president in the 2028 election. Former Congressman Jamaal Bowman from New York and Nomiki Konst, a progressive activist, are leading the draft committee named “Run Ro.” Their goal is to rally support for Khanna, who represents a district in Silicon Valley. NBC News initially reported on the committee’s formation.
Nomiki Konst, with experience in campaigns for former President Barack Obama and Senator Bernie Sanders, has known Khanna for over a decade. She believes his work aligns with the priorities Americans are seeking. In an interview with The Washington Post, Konst highlighted Khanna’s voter mobilization efforts during the 2026 campaign. She commended his policies on artificial intelligence, taxing the wealthy, and advocating for the public release of the Epstein files.
Khanna is reportedly considering a presidential run. In October, he told The Post he would make a decision by the year’s end, although a public announcement might come later.
