John “Jed” York, owner and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, was recently arrested in East Palestine, Ohio. He faced charges related to “engaging in prostitution” and “possessing criminal tools.” These charges were later amended to misdemeanors for disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, as per court records.
York was booked on a Sunday morning and released that afternoon after posting a $5,000 bond, confirmed by the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest took place at Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community, a local trailer park.
For more information regarding the arrest, East Palestine police directed inquiries to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. However, the Task Force has not responded to requests for comment.
York appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday morning. He pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charges through a plea agreement offered by the prosecutor. York’s penalties included serving two days in jail, one of which had already been credited, and paying fines amounting to $1,150.
York, aged 46, will be under scrutiny from the NFL regarding potential discipline under its Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL acknowledged the situation, stating it will undergo review under the policy.
The 49ers organization chose to minimize further publicity, issuing a statement indicating no further comments on the resolved legal matter. York, originally from Youngstown, Ohio, has been the majority owner of the 49ers since 2024 and previously served as the team’s CEO.
