Search Continues for Missing South Carolina Woman

1 week ago 0

A woman from South Carolina has been missing since last week. Authorities report that Elena Katherine Moore, 39, was last seen leaving a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, a suburb west of Columbia.

The Lexington Police Department stated that Moore signed in at the gym around 6:40 p.m. and later headed toward a wooded area near a Lowe’s Home Improvement store. She was reported missing the next day.

Moore works as a personal trainer. Her unexplained disappearance is considered very unusual by those who know her, police informed ABC News.

A teenager disappeared from a South Carolina home. Police fear she’s in serious danger after a monthlong search.

Following her disappearance, investigators deployed a drone on Friday for an initial search where Moore was last observed. However, they found no signs of her.

On Monday, a larger search operation took place involving multiple local and state agencies. Lexington police collaborated with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Department of Natural Resources, and other emergency response teams. The search focused on the wooded areas behind Lowe’s and Planet Fitness.

According to the Lexington Police Department, this effort aimed to eliminate a possible location rather than recover Moore.

No trace of Ms. Moore was found during the operation, said Police Chief Terrence Green.

Moore is described as a White female, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she wore an olive-green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants. Investigators are uncertain if she had her cellphone with her.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Moore’s whereabouts to contact detectives at 803-358-7271 or reach out to Midlands Crimestoppers.
