In London, Serena Williams made a celebrated return to professional tennis after nearly four years. On Tuesday, at Queen’s Club, the 44-year-old showcased her powerful performance. Partnering with 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko, Williams excelled in their opening doubles match at the grass-court tournament.
The duo faced off against the third-seeded team of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe. Williams and Mboko secured victory with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-2. This marked Williams’ first professional match since the 2022 U.S. Open.
Williams demonstrated her strength by delivering service winners clocking up to 120 mph. She closed out the match triumphantly, serving two aces followed by a decisive service winner.
Last week, Williams declared her return to doubles. She has not yet confirmed if she will pursue a singles comeback in the future.
