Shooting at Delaware Hospital Leaves One Dead and One Injured

On Tuesday, a shooting incident occurred at ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital in Delaware, resulting in one fatality and another injury. The suspect remains at large according to the police.

The shooting was reported at 3:30 p.m., Wilmington Police Chief Wilfredo Campos confirmed during a news conference. Officers responding to the scene found two victims but did not encounter the shooter, he stated.

The identities of the victims and details on the survivor’s condition were withheld to respect the families involved. No description of the suspect or motive for the attack has been released.

“We are actively working to identify and locate him,” Campos said. Officers are committed to working tirelessly to bring the responsible individual to justice.

Law enforcement gathered outside Wilmington Hospital following the shooting to clear the area. Mayor John Carney highlighted the dire nature of the event, noting that hospital staff had barricaded themselves in rooms while law enforcement cleared the premises.

Governor Matt Meyer mentioned that his wife, Dr. Lauren Meyer, was on duty at the downtown hospital during the incident. He praised hospital workers, referring to them as “heroes involved in life-saving efforts.”

U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt from Delaware reported being briefed on the situation. She expressed her prayers for the community and appreciation for the swift law enforcement response.

Wilmington, the largest city in Delaware, has a population of over 73,000 and is often called the “corporate capital of America” for hosting numerous corporate legal addresses.
