Social Security Administration Issues Special Cards for U.S. Babies

The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue special Social Security cards to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday. These cards will be given to children born in the United States between July 2nd and December 31st of this year.

These commemorative cards will maintain the familiar blue, wallet-sized format that has been standard for decades. However, they will feature the unique “Freedom 250” logo. This logo represents a public-private initiative, backed by the Trump administration, which was established last year to coordinate events for the semiquincentennial celebrations of the nation.

Despite its introduction, the Freedom 250 initiative differs from America250. America250 is a nonprofit organization created by Congress in 2016 to manage and organize the celebrations for the nation’s 250th year of independence.
