“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone satirized President Donald Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America. They poked fun at how Apple Maps and Google Maps accepted the change with a tongue-in-cheek statement made on Tuesday.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation,” the statement read.
This humorous declaration followed after “South Park” won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program for its 27th season premiere in 2025. The episode included references to Trump being in bed with Satan and discussing his alleged involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker satirized the new naming in their recent episode. President Trump had issued an executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America, amidst tense trade relations between the U.S. and Canada. Trump stated, “The United States is the greatest protector of the Great Lakes, including the body of water currently known as Lake Ontario.” This, he said, was vital for the lake’s accessibility for shipping, recreation, and responsible use.
Following this order, Fox Business found that Apple Maps and Google Maps updated their platforms to incorporate the new name, “Lake America.” Google indicated that this change would be visible in the U.S., with Canadian users still seeing “Lake Ontario.” In other countries, users would encounter both names.
The creators also humorously criticized a previous executive order by Trump to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” Both Google and Apple had similarly updated their maps to reflect this change in 2025. These satirical gestures from “South Park” reflect ongoing comedic commentaries on the Trump administration since his second term.
