The State Department has announced a reward of $15 million for information concerning four Chinese nationals allegedly involved in the illicit procurement of U.S. military equipment and drone technology for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The individuals accused are Liu Baoxia, Li Yongxin, Yung Yiu Wa, and Zhong Yanlai.
According to a release by the State Department, these individuals are suspected of facilitating the transfer of U.S. goods to Chinese front companies. These companies would subsequently transfer technology to Iran. In Iran, the IRGC and related entities, such as Shiraz Electronics Industries and Rayan Roshd Afzar, utilize the U.S.-controlled technology to develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and weapons systems.
The products developed with these technologies are reportedly sold to governments and groups in other countries including Russia, Sudan, and Yemen, contravening U.S. sanctions.
Officials are urging those with pertinent information regarding these illegal technology sales to communicate details via the anonymous Tor Browser. Those providing valuable information may receive a monetary reward.
