Stefon Diggs Remains a Strong Contender as NFL Free Agent

4 weeks ago 0

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs may not be the All-Pro player he was from 2018 to 2023, but he remains confident about his abilities. Despite being 32 and currently a free agent, Diggs believes he can still offer exceptional performance on the field.

After his release by the Patriots following the Super Bowl, Diggs has positioned himself as one of the best available WR2s in the NFL. In a video on his YouTube channel, Diggs stated, “My opinion, I can compete with anybody. But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can’t name a No. 2 better than me.”

Last season, Diggs demonstrated his skill by achieving 85 receptions, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns. This performance marked his seventh season reaching 1,000 yards and at least 80 catches.

With training camps approaching, Diggs appears to be a sought-after player. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that at least five teams have shown interest in Diggs. Notably, Diggs managed to produce 1,000 yards with the Patriots while recovering from an ACL tear and playing only 55% of snaps.

While Fowler did not specify which teams were pursuing Diggs, potential teams include the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders. The Commanders, needing a strong presence alongside Terry McLaurin after parting with Deebo Samuel, may find Diggs an ideal candidate. They currently have Dyami Brown, Treylon Burks, and rookie Antonio Williams vying for the WR2 position.
