Straus Family Creamery has initiated a voluntary recall of several organic ice cream flavors and sizes in 17 states due to potential metal fragments in the products. On Friday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that no injuries have been reported related to this issue.
The recall impacts products sold in states including Arizona, California, Colorado, among others. The items affected were available in stores starting May 4, as noted by the FDA.
Consumers can identify the recalled products by their best-by dates printed on the container’s bottom. The items included in the recall are:
- Vanilla bean pints with best-by dates of December 23 and 28, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10030-6.
- Strawberry pints dated December 25, 2026, with manufacturing code 7-84830-10095-5.
- Strawberry quarts having a best-by date of December 24, 2026, with manufacturing code 7-84830-10097-9.
- Cookie dough pints with a best-by date of December 26, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10104-4.
- Dutch chocolate quarts dated December 27, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10012-2.
- Mint chip quarts with a best-by date of December 30, 2026, and manufacturing code 7-84830-10050-4.
The FDA stated that Straus Family Creamery is collaborating with retailers to ensure the removal of these items from store shelves. Customers who purchased any of the affected products should dispose of them. Although refunds will not be offered, Straus will provide vouchers for customers interested in purchasing another carton.
