Brush Fire Erupts in Burbank Hills Prompting Evacuations

A brush fire erupted in the Burbank hills on Saturday afternoon. The city’s police and fire departments quickly responded to the blaze near Wildwood Canyon and Harvard Road at approximately 3:20 p.m., as reported by UC San Diego Cal Fire.

The wildfire, named the Walnut Fire, spread through areas close to DeBell Golf Club and Wildwood Canyon Park. Officials evacuated regions surrounding the fire to ensure public safety.

Several local amenities have been affected. DeBell Restaurant and Golf Course, as well as Stough Canyon Nature Center, face temporary closures. Hiking trails in these areas are also inaccessible until further notice. Furthermore, the Starlight Bowl concert, which was slated for August 8, has been canceled.

The fire has consumed around 20 acres so far. This situation is developing, and updates will continue as new information emerges.
