During an interview with Fox News Digital, Wiles conveyed the unexpected nature of her diagnosis. She had no warning signs or symptoms that suggested a problem. In her role, which demands considerable energy and focus, she felt healthy and active.

‘I felt fine,’ Wiles reported. ‘Working every day in such a high-pressure job leaves little room for doubt. I had no inkling of my condition.’

A key moment came during a routine checkup. Although she wasn’t scheduled for a mammogram until later, the availability of the machine prompted her doctor to suggest an early scan. This quick decision led to the early detection of her cancer. Wiles acknowledges her doctor’s insistence on the scan as potentially lifesaving.

Early Detection’s Role

‘Without the mammogram that day, I might not have discovered the cancer until much later,’ Wiles explained. ‘Detecting cancer early makes an invaluable difference, and I am ever grateful to my doctor for taking the initiative.’

While physical symptoms and treatments are often discussed, Wiles emphasized the emotional and mental challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis.

‘Every day can be difficult. It’s relentless,’ she said, crediting her support network that included friends, family, and healthcare professionals. Her unwavering faith was also a pillar during this trying time.

‘Cancer not only affects you physically but mentally takes its toll. Yet, having a circle of support, people who can shoulder some of the emotional weight, is crucial.’

Maintaining Normalcy During Treatment

Wiles chose to continue her work throughout her treatment, finding solace and a sense of normalcy in her professional duties. ‘Work served as a mental escape. It reaffirmed that I was still me, beyond the cancer.’

Now cancer-free, Wiles has adopted a new focus on healthy habits, emphasizing the importance of diet, exercise, and rest. ‘Embracing healthy practices has become a priority. It positions me to avoid a possible recurrence.’

Encouragement for Others

In hindsight, Wiles encourages everyone to keep up with medical checkups and screenings. ‘Caring for ourselves often takes a backseat. We must prioritize our health and make those appointments.’

Wiles also advises allowing others to help during challenging times, advising, ‘Accept assistance and trust your doctors. Let your loved ones be there for you.’

Wiles reflects on her journey, stating that it brought new perspectives and gratitude for everyday moments. She remains thankful for her recovery and is determined to live fully.

‘I appreciate ordinary days so much more now, and I know the value of life beyond the circumstances of an illness.’
