Chicago police reported that two teenage boys were wounded when a gunman fired multiple shots into an apartment near the Auburn Park lagoon on the city’s South Side. The attack took place in the 400 block of West Winneconna Parkway just after 4 p.m.
Police stated that the shooter, whose identity remains unknown, fired from a hallway directly into the occupied apartment. An 18-year-old man was hit in the neck, clavicle, and back. He was transported to UChicago Medicine in critical condition. A 13-year-old boy was shot in both calves and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was reported to be in good condition.
Calumet Area detectives are currently investigating the incident. Police have not provided additional details at this time.
