During the game, Sarkisian expressed frustration with the halftime and postgame interview process. The ESPN broadcast captured Sarkisian running through the tunnel as sideline reporter Laura Rutledge attempted to interview him. Texas was trailing 20-3 at the time. Rutledge later revealed that Sarkisian had been patient, waiting for his interview due to ESPN’s technical issues.
“I want to clarify that Sarkisian declined the halftime interview. He was patient despite the technical difficulties we faced. He apologized, but it was us who owed him an apology, which we provided,” Rutledge explained.
After Texas clinched the victory, ESPN’s Holly Rowe sought a brief exchange with Sarkisian. He shared a few words and quickly returned to the locker room, saying, “Texas fight, hook ‘em.” This brief interaction sparked discussions online.
Arch Manning contributed significantly to the comeback, throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown. Hollywood Smothers added two rushing scores and amassed 74 rushing yards. The win marked a pivotal moment for Texas’ season.
Ohio State’s Julian Sayin delivered 278 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Jeremiah Smith caught eight passes totaling 164 yards and a touchdown.
