The Democratic National Convention Committee announced Boston, Denver, and Philadelphia as the three finalists vying to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention. This selection was confirmed by Ken Martin, Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
The decision process continues with the Democratic National Convention Committee, which will take several months before choosing the location. Earlier this year, Atlanta and Chicago were considered as potential sites but did not make it to the final list.
Martin expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming convention, stating, “The 2028 Democratic National Convention will be an inspiring celebration of our party’s future nominee and a critical step towards retaking the White House. Boston, Denver, and Philadelphia have shown strong bids, and we anticipate working closely with them during the selection process.”
In September 2025, the DNC began requesting proposals from interested cities, followed by site visits in April and May. Despite being in the running, Atlanta’s exclusion led Mayor Andre Dickens to voice his disappointment in a letter obtained by CBS News Atlanta. He criticized the decision, implying that Atlanta and Georgia seem overlooked by the party.
The convention is planned for Aug. 7 to 10, 2028. The last Democratic National Convention in 2024 was hosted in Chicago. Philadelphia previously hosted in 2016, Boston in 2004, and Denver in 2008.
