Trump Appoints Hollywood Ambassadors to Revitalize the Industry

Trump described his meeting with Voight as “great and interesting.” Voight, a “movie legend,” has been assigned to a special envoy alongside Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone.

Trump expressed high regard for Voight, noting that he is a dedicated individual with a passion for the Motion Picture and Television Industry. Trump shared these views on Truth Social, stating Voight’s concern for the changes in the industry. According to Trump, Hollywood’s work has largely shifted to Canada and other countries, causing a significant downturn in United States production.

Criticizing the current state of Hollywood, Trump declared it a “Complete and Total Disaster.” He emphasized the lack of incentives causing damage to California’s entertainment sector.

In an effort to counter these issues, Trump revealed discussions with industry leaders, including Voight, who proposed federal tax incentives to boost domestic production. The idea is to “Make our Movie and Television Production Business GREAT AGAIN,” Trump stated, believing the financial incentives will pay off substantially.

Trump encouraged bipartisan cooperation to legislate a Federal Production Incentive aimed at creating entertainment jobs across America. Voight suggested this can be achieved quickly and effectively.

Voight’s plan, submitted in May 2025, aims to restore Hollywood as the premier destination for movie and television production.

Although Voight’s representatives did not comment, Charles Rivkin, Motion Picture Association Chairman and CEO, endorsed the proposal, stating it could revitalize local communities and enhance America’s competitive edge.

Following Trump’s announcement of the Special Ambassadors program, which includes Stallone, Voight, and Gibson, efforts are underway to bring Hollywood back to its former glory.

Trump has tasked these ambassadors with revitalizing Hollywood, aiming for a renaissance akin to The Golden Age of Hollywood.

In May 2025, Voight, along with advisor Steven Paul, presented a comprehensive plan to Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The plan includes federal tax incentives, tax code reforms, international co-production treaties, and infrastructure subsidies.

The proposal aims for job training and limited tariffs to maintain competitive American production. The White House is currently reviewing this plan.

White House Spokesman Kush Desai confirmed ongoing communications between Trump and the ambassadors to reestablish America’s cultural influence. Voight’s proactive engagement with numerous industry stakeholders highlights his commitment to advancing domestic film production.
