President Donald Trump declared the tentative ceasefire with Iran “over” following a night of significant bombing. This decision came after Iran’s attacks on commercial ships in recent days.

During a meeting at the NATO Summit in Ankara, Trump expressed strong sentiments about the situation. “I think it’s over,” he told reporters while speaking with Secretary-General Mark Rutte. “I don’t want to deal with them anymore, they’re scum.” His remarks indicated a shift away from ongoing discussions with Iran, which he deemed fruitless. “They’re liars, they’re cheats. They’re sick people,” he added.

The end of the ceasefire marks a change in the diplomatic landscape, especially after both sides had previously agreed to a memorandum of understanding. However, Iran’s recent actions, targeting at least three commercial vessels in the Strait on Monday and Tuesday, led the U.S. to retaliate with strikes on over 80 targets in Iran.
