He mentioned that a judge had mandated an updated complaint detailing The Times’ alleged defamation actions against him, his family, and his movement. Trump’s statement emphasized holding the media accountable for what he described as ‘Fake News.’
The lawsuit involves allegations against The Times for defamation related to various subjects, including tax maneuvers and how it covered ‘The Apprentice.’ It names The New York Times Company and several journalists as defendants.
The New York Times has responded in the past by asserting the lawsuit lacks merit. A spokesperson reiterated that the intention to challenge independent reporting was the driving force behind the lawsuit.
This legal action now awaits an amended complaint by August 27, as directed by the U.S. District Court for Florida’s Middle District in Tampa.
