U.S. Secretary of State Urges Cubans to Collaborate with CIA

12 hours ago 0

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has made a public call for Cubans seeking substantial change to establish collaborations with the CIA. This initiative forms part of the Trump administration’s strategy to challenge Cuba’s communist governance.

Rubio’s statement, shared via a post on X, encouraged those disheartened by unmet promises and systemic corruption to consider a discreet alliance with the CIA. His message emphasized the urgent need for proactive steps towards change in Cuba.

Following Rubio’s call, the CIA reiterated his message in both English and Spanish. The agency also provided a video guide on how Cubans can reach out to them. This outreach comes amid tight U.S. embargoes and sanctions that have triggered significant challenges for Cuban citizens, such as inflated prices for essentials and reduced healthcare access. Reports have described long waits for basic services like bread and medical appointments.

In a related announcement, the U.S. government imposed further economic sanctions on Cuba’s state-controlled bank, citing its connections with Iran. President Trump, during a recent campaign rally in South Florida, indicated a plan to address issues with Cuba in conjunction with U.S. military actions near Iran.

Trump stated that as U.S. Navy warships return from the Strait of Hormuz, one ship will approach Cuba’s coast significantly, suggesting that Rubio would then take diplomatic actions.

We reject any threats stemming from U.S. ambitions toward Cuba,

said Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. He highlighted the mixed nature of Cuba’s coastline, which presents challenges to hostile entities seeking control.

This situation marks another chapter in the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Cuba, with both sides making public their stances on the international stage.
