University of Maryland student Dilan Shaan Ashar was found safe after a six-day search. He emerged from the woods on Wednesday evening and approached a search-and-rescue vehicle. “Are you looking for me?” he asked the driver.
Dilan, 22, had last been seen on October 2 near a parking garage adjacent to a densely wooded area. His disappearance prompted an extensive search effort. On October 7, missing person flyers were widely circulated to aid in the search.
Authorities had been searching for Ashar since he was reported missing. The sight of him emerging from the woods provided relief to the search teams and his family.
