Exclusive Interview: Vice President JD Vance spoke to Fox News Digital regarding the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar’s alleged immigration fraud. He affirmed the Trump administration’s stance of non-interference in the DOJ’s probe following the search of Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence.
Vance stated, “We don’t want to be like the Biden administration, where they allow the law to target their political opponents.” He emphasized that the administration would let the law and facts dictate action. If fraudulent immigration activities are uncovered, legal proceedings will follow.
On Monday, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), conducted a raid on Omar’s home. This event sparked concern among Democrats, drawing attention to similar past incidents involving prominent figures.
“In the Trump administration, we let facts and law drive investigations,” Vance asserted, emphasizing their hands-off approach concerning DOJ activities.
Rep. Omar dismissed the investigation claims, stating they are politicized efforts by House Republicans. She expressed that the focus on her case is motivated by political agendas.
Vance reiterated the administration’s commitment to following facts, regardless of the political implications, asserting, “You have to enforce the law as it exists.” He criticized Omar for her perceived negative attitude towards the US, despite it being her refuge from Somali civil war.
The vice president’s comments came during a campaign rally in Texas, highlighting Republican efforts to retain Congressional control ahead of elections.
In response to the raid, Omar took to social media, denouncing it as an abusive and politically motivated action by Trump. Her posts refuted allegations, casting them as attempts to silence her.
Fox News Digital sought a response from Omar’s office but noted no reply by publication.
