Will Levis Joins New York Jets Practice Squad

Will Levis, former quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, aims for a comeback by joining the New York Jets’ practice squad. The move comes as the Jets release Bailey Zappe to make room for Levis. This opportunity does not imply a replacement for starter Geno Smith, but rather adds depth with Levis, an experienced player with potential.

Levis entered the NFL with the 2023 draft as a notable prospect despite uncertainties. The Tennessee Titans selected him 33rd overall, expecting him to be a long-term asset. Levis impressed early with a strong debut, throwing four touchdown passes in a win against Atlanta. However, an ankle injury disrupted his rookie season, and subsequent struggles with turnovers and consistency marked his 2024 performance.

His sophomore year saw 13 touchdown passes overshadowed by 12 interceptions. The Titans finished 2–10 in games he started. A shoulder injury against Miami required surgery, sidelining him for the entire 2025 season. With the Titans selecting Cam Ward in the 2025 draft, Levis’ tenure ended when they waived him in August.

Now at 27, Levis seeks growth with the Jets. The team’s coaching staff offers a promising environment. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich, known for his work with Peyton Manning and other quarterbacks, alongside quarterback coach Bill Musgrave, presents a valuable mentorship for Levis. Despite the team’s impatience and instability, good coaching could help Levis refine his skills.
