A 12-year-old boy from New Jersey, Xavier Taylor, remains in critical condition after a baseball accident last week. The incident happened during warm-ups at Fellowship Columbia Bank Field near Maple Shade. Xavier was struck in the head, which led to his collapse during the session. He was then urgently airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, according to information provided by NBC Philadelphia.

In response to the situation, the Maple Shade Youth Baseball Association emphasized its commitment to supporting Xavier and his family. Their recent statement highlighted, “Our primary goal now is to ensure we are there for them in prayer and faith, helping them every way we can.” The association expressed gratitude for the community and nationwide support, encouraging continued prayers.

In an interview posted by NBC Philadelphia, Xavier’s father, Greg Taylor, updated followers on Xavier’s condition. He mentioned that his son remains “very critical” and is reliant on a ventilator. Greg Taylor shared a hopeful gesture from the family, noting that Xavier’s youngest brother brought a pair of shoes for him, saying, “These are for Xavier when he comes home, because he’s walking out of here.”

Community members, teammates, and friends gathered for a vigil on Thursday night at the same field. Many wore Xavier’s team number, 6, to show their support. During this gathering, Greg Taylor spoke, affirming Xavier’s passion for baseball: “My son Xavier loves this game; he will play this game again.”

The Maple Shade community has rallied in support. The town’s Main Street was lit up in blue, the color of Xavier’s team. On their Facebook page, the Maple Shade Youth Baseball Association encouraged residents to place bats on their porches as a sign of solidarity. “On Sunday evening, May 31, we ask that all baseball players place one baseball bat out on their porch as we rally together for Xavier while he battles to recover from a freak accident on the baseball field,” the post suggested. Other local baseball teams have also shown their support with various online gestures for Xavier.
