A resident of California, Yolanda Olejniczak Marodi, has admitted wrongdoing in the murder of her spouse, a fire captain, Rebecca ‘Becky’ Marodi. Yolanda, aged 54, entered a guilty plea for second-degree murder on Tuesday. The incident took place in February 2025 at their home in Ramona.

This case is not Yolanda’s first encounter with the law. In 2000, she was involved in the stabbing death of her then-husband, James Joseph Olejniczak. She pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in 2003, serving a term before her release in 2013.

Rebecca Marodi, a dedicated Cal Fire captain, suffered multiple stab wounds on February 17, 2025. Surveillance captured her attempting to escape the residence as Yolanda pursued her. Injuries recorded include stabbings to her neck, chest, and back.

Authorities reported that Yolanda attempted to evade capture by fleeing to Mexico. She was arrested over a month later at a hotel in Mexicali and extradited back to the U.S.

Initially, Yolanda pleaded not guilty but later changed her plea to guilty regarding her wife’s murder. Sentencing is scheduled for September 2.
